Property taxes have risen consistently in Lakeview and residents hav no control over how the money is spent. However, each Alderman receives $1.32 million in “menu money” for infrastructure upgrades. Elizabeth supports participatory budgeting and will establish a task force of 44th ward citizens who will have the opportunity to provide input regarding how the menu money will be spent.
Elizabeth will serve as a unifying voice between businesses and residents and will work toward positive and fair outcomes. Public feuds serve as a distraction from the real problems we face: soaring property taxes, corruption, education and crime. There will be no favorites in 44th Ward - just one community, working together - full of pride.
The time is now for a fresh start. We will have a new mayor soon, many new council members and an opportunity to end corruption in our ward and the city.
